ALCUBIERRE ENGINE POWERED BY DARK ENERGY
In the next few years it will be possible to identify dark energy and understand its field equations. This limitless energy, omnipresent in the universe, can power the Alcubierre or Warp drive and make this hyperluminic drive super technology accessible.
The Alcubierre engine is based on the eponymous metric. It is a mathematical model that admits interstellar travel at superluminal speeds, without violating the laws of space-time. It is a solution to Einstein’s equations within the framework of the Theory of Relativity.
Said engine is capable of creating a flat warp bubble within which the spacecraft is centrally located. Space-time extends behind the spaceship and is contracted in front. This thrust makes it possible to travel large numbers of light-years in a relatively short time, while space and time inside the bubble remain unchanged.
Neither physical laws nor the speed of light constant are violated. The ship remains motionless in the center of the bubble and is pushed forward by tidal forces from the peripheral region. The ship and therefore its crew members are exempt from the devastating effects of the very strong superluminal accelerations.
The warp drive requires negative density matter, or exotic matter, to create a bubble of negative energy to enclose the ship. Such energy is proportional to the speed of propagation of the propagation bubble.
No physical law of those predicted by the theory of relativity would be violated since within the “deformation bubble” nothing would exceed the speed of light; the ship would not move inside such a bubble but would be carried by it, the ship inside the bubble would never travel faster than a beam of light.
A research team working for the Pentagon’s advanced technology division, DARPA, accidentally discovered a micro/nanoscale structure matching the curvature bubble, which predicts a negative energy density distribution that closely matches the requirements of the Alcubierre metric.
The barrier to overcome to achieve the Warp drive is the power supply. Dark energy is a form of energy1 that would be present in all space, producing a pressure that tends to accelerate the expansion of the universe, resulting in a repulsive gravitational force. It is not very dense, about 10 raised to the power of 29 g/cm³, it is difficult to carry out experiments to detect it. Dark energy has a great influence on the universe, since it is 70% of all energy and because it uniformly occupies interstellar space. If the substance is negative pressure then its effect is a gravitational repulsion.
